Bow with inscription and 'oldschool' bow.

Only req7 items don't drop. Other old school items still drop (req8/uninscribables).

Let's take the example of the Mursaat Hammer. You can get this in an old school version and a new school version. The old school (uninscribable) drops in prophecies. You can get an inscribable version from the zaishen chest for example. A req9 15^50 old school will be worth more than a req9 inscribable from the zaishen chest. You can ask why and you'll get the same answer that have already been posted: they are rare (supply/demand) and collectors seem to like old school items.

Yeah so, Some ppl use Oldschool for non inscriable. Some use it for items that no longer come. as non isncriable crystallines, dwarvens, serpents(tyrian skin), r7 items and unconditionals and few Nerfed mods as Prenerfed staffs (10/10) and Shiel mod 3/10% (nowadays 5/20).

Non inscriable(oldschool) items, as Non inscriable magmas shields, still drop. and are really rare, only dropping from 1-2 locations in prophecies
. So if ppl would start farming those spots, sure few would showup. probably causing little price drop on em. But for now, noneone rly farms in propecies and cantha, so skins from those with good stats are expensive.

Some of us buy/collect these for ourselves, not to show off.

Yes that is old school. For pricing info, go to the Price Check Forum and make a thread there.

This is completely subjective. What is a "good" skin? That depends on who you ask. "Rare" and "Good" are often used as interchangeable terms, which they aren't.

A skin can be both Rare and Good, it can also be one or the other. IMHO "Rare" defines the supply/availability of a given skin, "Good" describes aesthetic appeal in relation to how it looks; "Rare" or not, the Crystalline Blade skin is not a skin that in my personal opinion looks appealing, therefore it is not "Good", which is why I'd never try to obtain one for one of my characters, regardless of its rarity.

In a game with the amount of players that GW has vocabulary is always going to be constantly shifting, though it would be nice if the community at large could get a handle on standardized labels (which is all it is, to be honest) when it comes to items. This is why one person's "Old School" is another person's "Uninscribable" and is yet another person's "Does Not Drop Anymore". Words like "Good", "Better", and "Best" should probably be limited to things that can be quantified, like base damage, requirement, and mods for specific purposes. Even then, people will still argue.

So do req7 items really not drop anymore or are they just so extremely rare like Gaile said, and people don't farm the right areas for them?

I always get a chuckle out of threads that ask "what's the coolest skin" type questions. The easiest answer is to just point them to a list of every skin available.
